This grasshopper is the direct result of a challenge from someone I briefly met. This was a particularly difficult shape to design and took several weeks of trial and error. I had many false starts with base patterns that didn't work and actually stumbled upon the right one when playing with a pattern whose failure I felt was certain. I am still not absolutely happy with this grasshopper. The rear legs are too short and it is lacking antennae, but for a first rendition I would call it acceptable.
